Michelle Martinez

Michelle Martinez is a founding member of Michigan Environmental Justice Coalition where she served as Executive Director and Statewide coordinator since 2017. She currently serves as visiting scholar at the New School’s Tishman Environment and Design Center interrogating issues of energy and climate justice. Ms. Martinez also is a 2022 Movement Leader Fellow at the CUNY School for Labor and the Environment. She has been practicing environmental justice in her hometown of Detroit since 2006, from urban farming to corporate campaigns, and climate justice with a focus on race and equity in the environmental sector. She is a graduate of University of Michigan, SEAS, earning her Master's in Environmental Policy in 2008.
