Cecil Corbin-Mark

Corbin-Mark, Deputy Director and Director of Policy Initiatives at WE ACT for Environmental Justice passed away unexpectedly on October 15, 2020. Cecil was a nationally known leader for justice who worked tirelessly to ensure that residents living on the frontlines of disparity were purposely involved in the development of policies that impacted their communities. Because of his leadership over nearly three decades, he helped to enact policy and legislation that positively impacted the lives of millions of people. Cecil helped to shape New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act as well as the best in the nation Child Safe Products Act that requires companies to report toxic chemicals in children’s products. He was instrumental in the development of energy efficiency, workforce and just transition, and climate and clean energy equity projects, equitable building electrification initiatives and was a key architect in the development of the Equitable Building Electrification Fund. Cecil brought not only his creativity, thought partnership and genius to our collaborative community, but also his energy, his friendship, his humanity and his passion for this work. He is dearly missed.
